‘Carol’ streaming on multiple platforms this Christmas
Carol, a modern, faith-based musical inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” is available on multiple streaming platforms during upcoming holiday season.
Carol is or will be available on:
DirecTV
Vubiquity
Dish
iNDEMAND, the largest on-demand and pay-per-view provider in the United States
Shaw, one of the largest cable providers in Canada.
James Tew, executive producer of Carol along with his wife Shannon and president of Angola, Indiana-based 22 Productions, said he is excited to share Carol and its message of hope during this Christmas season.
“I hope families everywhere enjoy the music, the phenomenal acting, the dancing, the humor and the familiar-but-different story,” he said. “Most of all, I hope they’re not just entertained, but reminded about the second chances we’re all offered.”
Filmed in northeast Indiana
Filmed in Steuben and Noble counties in northeast Indiana earlier this year, Carol tells the story of Solomon Lynch (Aaron Fullan, Surprised By Oxford, The Glitch), a self-centered slacker and the resident Scrooge of the small, struggling town of Springdale, Indiana. Estranged from his family, Solomon comes face-to-face with the real Ebenezer Scrooge (Paul Kandarian, Pursuit of Freedom) on Christmas Eve and is taken on a musical journey through his past, present and future.
While the story uses devices and characters from “A Christmas Carol,” it includes its own unique twists and turns, with diverse musical styles, poignant moments and humor throughout the film.
In the end, it will take much more than Christmas spirit for Solomon to make things right.
Streaming distribution through Deep C
Carol is distributed on streaming platforms through an agreement between Deep C Digital, one of the largest and most trusted independent movie and TV distributors in the United States, and 22 Productions.
“Carol is a truly unique and beautiful entry in our already extensive lineup of Christian films,” said John Kim, founder and CEO of Deep C Digital. “It’s a Christmas film, a love story and a musical, with situations and emotions everyone can relate to included within the familiar framework from ‘A Christmas Carol.’ We’re excited to share Carol with viewers this upcoming holiday season and look forward to many families making it an annual Christmas tradition.”
“The journey of Carol from stage to screen has been amazing, and we are blessed to partner with a company as experienced and connected as Deep C Digital in this next phase,” said Tew. “Deep C’s reach on digital platforms is unmatched, giving us the opportunity to share this movie’s message of hope in Christ, wrapped in a very entertaining package, during a time when so many need it.”

Hollywood is coming to Angola, Indiana
Movie premieres involve much more than the movie itself, and those attending the premiere of Carol on Dec. 5 at Trine University will have the opportunity to get a taste of the glamour that goes along with such an event.
From 4-5 p.m., prior to the first showing at 5:30, members of the cast and producers will arrive by limousine and enter the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts via red carpet, stopping for premiere photos in front of a backdrop with the movie logo on their way into the building.
Among those making their entrance by limo will be Aaron Fullan (Solomon Lynch), Meggie Jenny (Christmas Past), Austin and Frannie Rae Cash Cain (Penelope Crandall), Paul Kandarian (Ebenezer Scrooge), Shannen Fields (Mrs. Lynch), Elias Kemuel (Tim Crandall) and Corey Pena (Abbott Mayflower), along with producers James and Shannon Tew, George and Kary Johnson and Orlando Kemuel Rodriguez.
“We know many people are excited for the premiere of Carol, and we hope as many as possible are able to come early and cheer on the cast as they make their way into the Furth Center and Ryan Concert Hall,” said James Tew.
Cast and producers will be in formal wear, but Tew said audience members are welcome to dress as they wish.
“We encourage anyone who wants to dress up and join in on the fun,” he said. “However, we also know a lot of people are just looking for a fun night at the movies in their T-shirt and jeans, and that’s fine too. Above all, we want everyone to be comfortable and enjoy the movie and its positive message.”
The Carol premiere will see the Ryan Concert Hall outfitted with a larger screen and added equipment for a Dolby Atmos immersive sound experience. Concessions will be available on the first floor of the Furth Center.
After each showing, audience members will be able to go to the lower level of the Furth Center to meet the cast and pose in front of the Carol backdrop as well as a Christmas tree decorated just like one of the trees in the movie.
Carol will premiere in the Ryan Concert Hall of the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts at 5:30 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. Tickets are still available at trine.edu/furthtickets.
CAROL adds to awards
Carol, the modern, faith-based musical filmed in northeast Indiana earlier this year, added to its collection of awards at two recent film festivals.
Carol received the Best Inspirational Film award at the Green Mountain Christian Film Festival, held Oct. 18-19 in Randolph, Vermont.
Aaron Fullan, who plays the lead role of Solomon in the film, was honored as Best Actor, and Robert Amaya, who plays Christmas Past, was named Best Supporting Actor.
The Green Mountain Christian Film Festival is hosted by Faith and Family Films, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting faith-based and family-friendly movies.
“There were many outstanding films competing at the Green Mountain Christian Film Festival, and it’s an incredible honor and blessing to be recognized as the best among them,” said James Tew, president of Angola, Indiana-based 22 Productions and executive producer of Carol along with his wife Shannon.
“I’m also very happy that Aaron and Robert were recognized for the wonderful work they did in Carol. Aaron knocked it out of the park in his first lead role, and Robert was amazing as always. The two of them make a dynamite combination.”
Carol also received several awards at the recent Golden Lion International Film Festival: Best International Feature Film, Special Jury Award, Best Director for George A. Johnson, Best Actor for Aaron Fullan and Best Writer for George A. Johnson and James Tew.
Based in India, the Golden Lion International Film Festival is an international platform for independent film making and the art of visual storytelling.
Carol and Johnson previously were recognized at the Bollywood International Film Awards and the Athens International Monthly Film Festival.
“We know that God has already done and will continue to do amazing things through all the different aspects of this film: writing, directing and acting,” Tew said.

“We also greatly appreciate the support Trine University provided, not only with rehearsals and filming, but with housing cast and crew. The movie includes one scene filmed at a private residence in Kendallville and several, including Carol’s opening, filmed in downtown Albion.
The original play Carol is based on was performed at the First Church of God in Kendallville in 2013.
“Kendallville is where everything began. It’s also the hometown of our choreographer Maude-Jo Yerrick and home to TC Dance, which provided our wonderful dancers,” said Tew. “It’s wonderful that we’re able to bring Carol full-circle in this way.”
Tickets are $10 for the CLC showing and are available at thecommunitylearningcenter.org/performing-arts.
